Almost One

My sweet Caveman Jones (aka The Gooch) is almost one. I think about where we were a year ago and how much we’ve changed, learned, and overcome in this year. It is hard not to get emotional. I’m not trying to stop myself from being emotional, of course. There is an immense amount of love, fear, uncertainty, joy, work, and happiness involved. He is almost walking, he has words (ball, pearl (curl), cat (kah), wow, mama, dada, whoa, duck, and pop). They just keep coming! He is pretty much obsessed with balls and says that word at least 400 times a day. It makes me laugh every time. He’s also eating TONS of food. I don’t think there is much this guy won’t eat. He’s probably over 25 pounds now. His hair is coming in now, too, and I think it might be a little curly. That would be cute. We go swimming a lot and he is a major splasher. I always knew he’d be a water baby.

We’re leaving tomorrow for my sister and Jonathan’s wedding! It is going to be a blast, although the travel is a little scary with a mobile little one. Tillie and Leah are traveling with us, so he’ll have plenty of distractions.

We’ll be celebrating his birthday on July 1 and I plan to write more as we get closer or right after. There will be lots to say, I’m sure. I just wanted to get some thoughts and achievements down while I was thinking about it. Well, I suppose I’m always thinking about him.
