things to make and do

as a part of a periodic update on what levi can do i would like to detail a few things:

1) crawling

this is a kind of an awkward and jaunty affair, but mr. levi is definitely getting from point a to point b. he sort of motors without really getting into the “bridge” position- a scoot might be a term for it but that isn’t quite accurate as the movement is more peristaltic, or worm-like. while i think we should make up a word for it, “the worm” a la 80s breakdance is really what it is. Never fear, we’ve taken videos. those will be up later.

2) pulling up

along with the arm muscle that gets him around on the floor is the toughness to pull him up onto some low lying obsticles, such as daddy’s outstretched legs. it’s amazing to watch, and reinforces the “my how he’s grown!” anthem that runs through our little parent heads of ours.

3) groovin’

a kind of wonderful addition to levi’s repetoire of expessions is a little shoulder dance he does when presented with a little groove. sometimes a little reggae beat or soul on the radio will do it, or just clapping and singing old mcdonald, or finally the trigger that works everytime – ladyjoanna’s little song called “levi” – like several of momma’s “folk art” songs the lyrics are simply the title repeated ad infinitum. the key is the rhythm. momma’s got the infectious groove.

Well, I could go on with more bullet points. Unfortunately, I’m one tired daddy-o. Poor levi has been running a fever the last 3 days, but still no signs of a cold. Took him to the pediatrician this morning. She didn’t know what it was – not the flu, maybe an ear infection, but possibly a million other things one can find on the internet with minimal search criteria. It might be Roseola, which is apparently “going around” — if it is that, it will probably blow over (same thing with an ear infection, and just about every other infant illness, but the worry that goes through a parent’s feeble mind is remarkable.)

Best thing I can do at this point is to get some sleep.

Jollyness to you,
P-man

I should be sleeping

I should be sleeping but it has been so long since I have written. I just have to say a few things about my little sweet pea. He will be 8 months old in 10 days and so much of it seems like a blur. Even exhaustion and lack of inspiration can’t stop the flood of affection I feel toward Levi. And I won’t even curse him in the morning! That is true love.

He is a pretty happy guy who can entertain himself for long periods of time now. I never thought we’d get there after our colic experience. He seems to understand so many words and actions….mama, Pearl, eat, more, clapping, and he knows exactly what to do when he sees that shiny camera of ours! He is starting to crawl and loves to stand (assisted), as well. I’m afraid that babyproofing is in our near future.

I hear the wee one now. He is waking up for the 100th time tonight. Perhaps he’s teething, has a headache, has to poop, is lonely, is hot, is cold. Or maybe, just maybe, he needs his mama. I’m going to go find out.

our guy levi

another update of pictures is available. the list of links is getting unwieldly. i’m not sure what i was thinking when i broke it up in such little pieces. certainly a person would have difficulty maintaining weekly updates, or even monthly updates; yet, i enjoy sharing whatever we have for pictures. sounds are even more fun, but for some reason i never seem to upload those. we have a bunch. i will try to put them up because they are hilarious. he actually spends most of the time saying something like “mum mum mum mum” which actually seems to mean “momma” some of the time. as for videos, i haven’t heard if anyone even has the bandwidth to watch ‘em so i’m just saving them for another dvd burn. the first one was so much fun.

tired daddy-o
